We have had two very generous donations to the society recently, and are extremely grateful in these rather uncertain times for this very welcome financial help.
Firstly, a bequest from Jill Hamilton Grierson who, with her husband Philip were very supportive regular members from Clifton days until they left the area some years ago. With Philip's permisson we have dedicated the Steven Osborne concert to her memory.
The other very good news is that the Trustees of the Moray and Nairn Concert Trust Fund (which has been wound up) have passed on their very significant residual funds to Music Nairn. This trust organised the Moray Piano Competition for many years, and looked after the Moray and Nairn Steinway piano. It is very pleasing that they felt we were a worthy recipient of this donation. The fund will be invaluable for ensuring the condition of our Steinway, and already a full refurbishment has been undertaken by an expert technician. We have also been liasing with the schools as to what help we can give to promote more music among youngsters, and they have requested help with purchase of instruments for class teaching, and resumption of schools workshops.
