Since the 1970s, chamber music of the highest calibre has been performed in Nairn. This is entirely due to the energy and vision of Gordon and Muriel Macintyre who hosted musicians at Clifton House, originally their hotel and latterly their home. In 1991 they were instrumental in setting up and running Nairn Performing Arts Guild which became Music Nairn in 2008. Gordon is fondly recalled and much missed by many Nairnites and this concert is arranged in conjunction with the Nairn Book & Arts Festival to celebrate his long involvement with music in Nairn.
Gordon was very fond of both Christina and her husband Marcus (they once gave a private recital at his house). Christina gave the inaugural recital on our Steinway piano and is well known to Nairn audiences. She says that she played the Chopin Ballade no. 4 in Clifton House the first time she came to play in Nairn and Gordon loved it.
