Music Nairn is a longstanding and well supported society. Musicians of the highest calibre, many with international reputations, perform at our concerts.
The promotion of classical music, both old and new, is an important part of our function and we are very keen to encourage youngsters (students are offered significant discounts) and to promote local musical activity by working with schools and other community groups. We hold occasional members events and the usual AGM, but all our monthly concerts are public ones.
Our splendid Steinway Model B Piano has been acquired through the generosity of local charities and many individuals and is considered one of the best concert pianos in private hands in Scotland.
Our normal venue, Nairn Community & Arts Centre, has an excellent acoustics, tiered seating for over 150 and maximum capacity of 300. However, we do use other venues from time to time. Concertgoers can enjoy wine and soft drinks before concerts and during intervals.
More members are needed for the Music Nairn committee and volunteers will be warmly welcomed. At present the committee consists of Convenor; Joan Noble, Secretary; Yvonne Cotter, Ordinary Members: Bernardo Mantilla Baca, Michael Barnett, Marjorie Downward, Alison Hart, Mike Noble and Victoria Smithson.
The Treasurer's post is currently vacant.
