Fort George

"On Thursday July 18th Music Nairn presented a wonderful concert to a full audience, whose members ranged from 10 to 90 years old, in the chapel of Fort George. The internationally acclaimed pianist, Mac McClure, together with Colombian violinist, Juan Carlos Higuita, presented an eclectic and lively performance of mainly Spanish and South American music, different, perhaps, from the more classical repertoire that we might have anticipated. More effort than usual was require from  Nairn audience members - the string of people making the long walk through the barracks squares from the car park to the chapel is an image which will live in the memory - but this was amply rewarded by the enthusiastic hospitality of the Fort George staff and the enthralling historic venue itself, a sanctuary full of history, which proved to have rich acoustics to reward the players. The event provided a truly lovely, memorable evening which it is hoped will be repeated throughout coming presentations in Music Nairn's new  'Outreach' programme."
